Road Diary: Summer in Upstate NY!
Saturday, July 9 – North Tonawanda NY
Festival season is here! We had an amazing time playing Weekends on Webster – an outdoor, summer-long festival in Tonawanda NY, and following the night up with an epic 3-set matinee at Turtle Joe’s, a beautiful outdoor venue right on the beach at Lake Erie.
Our outdoor show in downtown Tonawanda was almost rained out! Thankfully the rain cleared and we were able to have an amazing night. So many people waited out the weather to hear us play, and we got wind of people that had traveled in from Buffalo, and even as far away as Toronto, to catch the show.
Local photographer Carl Cederman caught the event on camera…absolutely gorgeous photos!
Some fans caught their own photos…
…and a few grabbed part of the set on video as well:
At this point we have to stop a minute and introduce a new addition to the band, the incredibly capable and decidedly not-female guitarist Adam Caine. We’ve known Adam for a long time (ten years!), and when our former Izzy Stradlin’ was asked to leave the group to manage some health concerns we decided to go in a direction that would bring some stability to our incredibly busy and rapidly-growing band. Adam is a phenomenal guitarist and we were delighted when he agreed to spend the summer on the road with us. What a champ. Thanks dude!
Sunday, July 10 – Angola NY
We followed Saturday night with an epic lakeside show at Turtle Joe’s in North Angola.
We couldn’t believe how many people showed up in the middle of the summer heat to watch us do our thing, and even after three longs sets the crowd was still rockin.
Someone even tried to pay us to play a fourth set! Sadly, we had to get on the road back to Brooklyn as the sun went down.
Every time we head up to the Buffalo/Erie area the crowds get better and wilder. Loving it. See you next time WNY/PA!
